20 December 2021Mir Payment System Won the Annual Award Development of Regions. The Best for Russia in Two Categories

The similarly-named Forum aimed at encouraging best practices and projects for the region development was held in Sochi on December 16-18. The awards ceremony of the winning projects was held on the Forum’s closing day. The prize winners received awards in 24 categories, among which were two projects of Mir Payment System. Thus, the development of cashless payments on public transport won the award Project of the Year in the Transport and Logistics category. The second project (Region’s Card) won a well-deserved prize as the Best Social Project in the Social Projects and Sustainable Development category. Maria Tochilova, Product, Digital and Technological Services Development Director of Mir Payment System noted in her speech that both projects were aimed at making people’s lives more convenient. For example, the Region’s Card enables to combine a variety of extra non-financial features and services on one Mir bank card. «The Region’s Card is unique in each and every region. Currently, such projects have been implemented in 23 regions. We select the most sought-after services based on the residents’ needs and requests of local authorities. The card can be used, for example, as a travel card, an access pass to school or academic buildings, as an alternative to a compulsory medical insurance certificate or an individual insurance account number (SNILS), serve as a discount card at local stores to name but a few. Our goal is to create a user-friendly instrument, a unified card with all the features people need, ” said Maria Tochilova, Product, Digital and Technological Services Development Director of Mir Payment System. The second project awarded at the Forum Development of Regions. The Best for Russia was implemented in the transport sector. It was aimed at reducing the fare for passengers and testifying that cashless payments are a state-of-the-art, user-friendly, beneficial and secure payment method. „Since 2019, when our transport initiatives were introduced, residents of 47 Russian regions have saved on the fare over RUB 2 bln. They only used their Mir cards to pay the fare without any particular conditions. I would like to emphasize that the discount amount is the money that people, all the same, spent on the fare and due to our offers this money was on their accounts, ” added Maria Tochilova, representative of Mir Payment System.
